Gayla's mother (Theo I. Anderson) was born and raised in Fairview, Utah. Her father (Leslie W. Ruesch) was born and raised in Manti, Utah. Gayla spent most of her childhood on her Grandfather's farm in Fairview around farm animals.
Gayla graduated from Granger High and later attended Weber State University, receiving a degree in nursing. She spent 10 years at the University of Utah Hospital and 13 years at Cottonwood Hospital and the at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah as a registered nurse.
Gayla married Richard Burke in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1980. Together...

Gayla married Richard Burke in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1980. Together they purchased a ranch in Dubois, Idaho. Gayla always enjoyed being around and working with the sheep operation and riding horses on the Sommer Range. She also enjoyed skiing at Alta and Park City. Gayla was very giving to everyone, unassuming and kind. She thought a lot of others and tried to help other people whenever she could.
Gayla passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 from ALS in her home with her husband and suffered no pain. She was 65 years old.
She is survived by her husband Richard Burke, 3 children - Tiffany Burke, Maury (Tracy) Burke and John (Katie) Burke. Two sisters- Jeannine (Ray) Rasmussen and Lois Roberts. 11grandchildren- Tyson (Vanessa) Pickett, Sheena (Jason) Brady, Preston (Aryssa) Pickett, Josh Richards, Jaren Burke, Ryan Richards, Cayden Burke, Noah Burke, Madison Burke, Carson Burke, Julia Burke, and 2 great grandchildren - Alivia Brady and Danika Brady.
